Morocco Announces Winners of the Hadith Competition
On Sunday, the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Scholars announced the winners of the first edition of its Hadith competition held remotely in Fez from October 18 to 20, featuring participation from 48 African countries.
The first place in memorizing forty Hadiths (without questions about narrators and meanings) was awarded to Tasneem Jumaa from Sudan. The second and third places went to Suleiman Khamis Mwamacuba from Kenya and Abdul Razak Musa Jila from Djibouti, respectively.
In the category for recalling thirty Hadith texts, the first prize was awarded to Abdul Qawi Farouk Ali from Kenya, followed by Mohamed Bakri Dramé from Mali in second place and Bashira Naybali from Uganda in third.
For the category of memorizing twenty Hadiths related to jurisprudence, the first place went to Mohamed Kamal from Ghana, while Abubakar Saleh from Burundi secured second place, and Aisha Musa Sisi from Angola came in third.
A special encouragement prize was awarded to eight-year-old Abdul Haq Sid Delamini from Eswatini and Hafsa Diallo from Cape Verde.
Secretary-General Mohamed Rafiki emphasized the commitment of the foundation to support participants and highlighted the initiative's role in promoting authentic religious practice in Africa rooted in the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.
Overall, the competition brought together 122 participants, including 20 females, assessed by peer judges from various African countries via Zoom, showcasing the high caliber of scholarship among the contestants.
